New Survey Reveals that the Mexican Public is Losing Faith in Democracy

Issue Sep 30-Oct 06 2026: Economist Marta Lagos has spent the last 30 years conducting the so-called “Latinobarómetro” survey, a yearly examination of Latin American public support for or rejection of democracy that encompasses every country in the region with the exception of Cuba. The results are initially reported in The Economist and then analyzed and reproduced by the media throughout Latin America. The survey provides data from each country, with results that are fascinating and often surprising.
