The United States Denies Immunity to Venezuela’s Maduro

Issue Sep 30-Oct 06 2026: The United States General Attorney’s Office has requested that Judge Allen K. Hellerstein reject former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro’s claim that, as head-of-state, he enjoys immunity from criminal prosecution in New York, adding that Venezuelan officials have never requested such immunity for either Maduro or his wife, Cilia Flores.
