The President faces disaster given economic uncertainty, a stormy peace process, the threat of El Niño, the acrimonious political climate and low popularity.

PRD leader Agustín Basave Benítez expressed confidence in a win for the party’s candidate, despite PRI and its dinosaurs.

Chile’s ruling coalition, Nueva Mayorí​a, is fractured over disagreements about legislative proceedings on abortion and labor reform. Nueva Mayorí​a plans to settle differences in the coalition’s coming committee meeting. The DC party still maintains doubts in regards to the abortion initiative; while the PS, PPD and PC advocate for a prompt resolution of both.
