The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, a branch of the Organization of American States (OAS) pointed to the excessive use of pretrial imprisonment in the country. 

With the opposition politician still incarcerated, the OAS looks to take action through multinational initiatives. 

Central Americans are growing increasingly tired of politicians as many are having to deal with the same problems even when they find themselves in different countries.

The Honduran Parliament ratified the OAS Mission on March 1st  to aid in the fight against corruption. The Secretary General, Luis Almagro, proclaimed, “Let’s hit them where it hurts.”  

Juan Orlando Hernández, the Honduran president, invited Mexico to join the Partnership for Prosperity, which unites parts of Central America.  

The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, visited Chile with several businessmen and held meetings with the Chilean President.  

The governor of Tachira, José Vielma Mora, refused to enforce the requirements designed by Colombia to control admission into the territory.  

Argentina’s and Uruguay’s foreign ministers agreed to hold twice yearly meetings to address all issues in the bilateral agenda, and they say an emphasis on integration and Mercosur are their “main concerns.” 

The Brazilian tech company’s new division will focus on Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador.
