The largest airline in Latin America, Latam, (Lan Chile and Brazil’s TAM) announced it is suspending its flights to Venezuela because of the worsening economic situation.  

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro activated the Democratic Charter of the OAS to convene a meeting to discuss the situation in Venezuela, an unprecedented step that could lead to that country’s suspension from the inter-American organization.

The new council will be chaired by Bolivian president, Evo Morales. In his absence, it will be presided over by the vice president, Álvaro Garcia Linera, or the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It will also be integrated by the ministries of Defense, Government, Transparency, Environment and the Attorney General.
