 The violence in Colombia, caused by criminal organizations and armed groups, is and has been an integral part of life for many years, which has affected all kinds of people. The violence has primarily affected social leaders but has also made an impact on the lives of journalists, women, children, and the LGBT community. Both the armed conflict between the government and FARC and the fight for resources that proliferated after the peace treaty are the main causes of violence. There has been much outrage, but there are also citizens working to better the situation.
