Despite a declaration by Guatemala’s president, Alejandro Giammattei, that businesses should not require non-essential employees to report to work, many companies have ordered their employees to continue working and some companies are forcing Guatemalans to count missed days due to restrictions associated with COVID-19 as vacation days or face firing.
