Bolivia’s Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) Divided over Surrender of Italian Fugitive

Italian leftist fugitive Cesare Battisti was given a life sentence in Italy in the 1970s for the murder of four people. After fleeing to Bolivia from Brazil, where he had previously lived in exile, Bolivian authorities refused his asylum application and on January 13th surrendered him to Italian authorities.
