July 1st marks the beginning of the fishing season in Peru, mainly for the anchoveta, a species related to the anchovy. The Ministry of Production announced a limit of 1.8 million metric tons, but this comes as a surprise since the Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE) has not issued its report on the biomass of the fish.
