Issue Jan 21-27 2026: The United States is “closely watching” Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi as he makes an official visit to China, expressing concern over the head-of-state’s planned meeting with his Chinese counterpart to discuss matters related to security and labor and trade practices. Orsi is scheduled to make the trip on Thursday with a large local delegation of 150 people, 30 of whom are servants and senior officials, with the remainder being mainly business leaders and representatives from the trade union sector.
