Issue Jun 12-17 2025: Former President of Nicaragua, Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, died on June 14, 2025, at the age of 95. She was the first woman elected president in the Americas. She moved from Managua to San José, Costa Rica, in October 2023 to be near her four children, who live in exile because of harassment by the current government of Daniel Ortega. Commentators spoke of her impact and her legacy.
