Trump Shoves U.S./Cuba Policy Back into the Deep Freeze

U.S. President Donald Trump struck down parts of his predecessor Barack Obama’s diplomatic rapprochement with Cuba, re-tightening rules on U.S. citizens travelling to the island, and moving to block U.S. firms from doing business with enterprises controlled by the Cuban military. While Cubans in Miami cheered, and Latin Americans across the region lamented the “return of the Cold War,” some observers have noted that his changes, while bumbling and counterproductive, were not the complete roll-back he claimed, and indeed, seemed to indicate that on Cuban policy (like in so many other areas), Trump doesn’t really have much of a plan.
