In Peru, quarantine and other forms of social distancing have only compounded the symptoms of isolation common to the 20% of the population who already struggle with mental health, while others are experiencing anxiety, depression, and stress in new and unfamiliar ways as the world continues to be transformed by this crisis. As a result, there has been a recent push for a cultural shift surrounding the treatment of these topics, including their accompanying social stigma and a sense of urgency regarding mental health care on the national level.
