The climate in Latin America and the world is changing. Precipitation patterns are changing, temperatures are increasing, and specific locations are increasing in the frequency and intensity of weather extremes such as torrential rains. The consequences vary from the melting of Andean glaciers, catastrophic flooding, drought, and the increase in temperatures in terrain in the arctic. Moreover, the effects of greenhouse gas emissions are real and becoming more pronounced. The devastating repercussions are already being felt by millions and have the potential to continue hurting the region’s economy, politics, and societies. Nevertheless, it is possible to avoid the disastrous effects of climate change if governments begin to replace their carbon-based energy sources and implement adaptation programs with sufficient financial support to prevent further catastrophes. The tools are accessible, and without a doubt, must consist of swiftly and firmly applying innovative measures, especially in regards to corporations taking on a more eco-friendly approach.
