Regional Tensions Cause Dominican Republic to Postpone Summit of the Americas

Issue Nov 05-11 2025: On Tuesday, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the U.S. government expressed their support for the Dominican Republic’s decision to postpone until 2026 the Tenth Summit of the Americas, originally scheduled for this December in Punta Cana. Mexico and Colombia had already decided not to participate due to the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela from the event.
