Peru Holds Its Breath as Las Bambas Conflict Culminates

The tensions among the indigenous communities, the Peruvian government, and the transnational mining subsidiary Las Bambas are increasing in southern Peru. The road blockade organized by community members of Fuerabamba, Cusco, has continued for 50 days, and now there is an ongoing protest at the entrance to the mine itself, located in Challhuahuacho, Apurímac.
