Forty-six-year-old Mario Abdo Benítez, “Marito,” of Paraguay’s Colorado Party won the April 22 presidential election with just over 46% of the vote, while his centrist opponent Efraín Alegre earned 43%. Voters also cast ballots for a new parliament and governors of the country’s 17 departments.
