Panama Canal Begins to Return to Normal Activity Levels Following Drought

Issue Aug 28-Sep 03 2024: The Panama Canal has experienced a severe reduction in crossings since a drought crisis that began in July of 2023, when ship transits dropped from the daily average of 36-38 ships to 32, due to a drought from the El Niño phenomenon, which extended the dry season after a decrease in rainfall.
