Panama and First Quantum Minerals Prepare to Negotiate the Reopening of Mine

Issue Oct 29-Nov 04 2025: Panama’s government has begun negotiations with Canada’s First Quantum Minerals after the latter agreed that the land and minerals where it plans to carry out operations belong to the Panamanian state. The mine, which contains an estimated US $10 billion in copper deposits, was decommissioned in 2023.
