Two years after the murder of Honduran environmental activist Berta Cáceres, those involved in her murder have finally been convicted. Cáceres was shot and killed in her home on March 2, 2016, in the town of Lenca, Honduras, due to her involvement in the fight against the building of a hydroelectric dam on indigenous territory. The conviction of seven men involved in her death occurred on November 29, 2018, and only strengthens the claim that Honduras is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for environmental activists.
