Argentine election law requires all parties and coalitions to select their federal candidates in simultaneous open primaries that are compulsory for all voters under the age of 69, known as the PASO. On August 9, 2015 parties will select their candidates for president and both houses of congress. Since public opinion polling is considered suspect and unreliable, the votes received in the PASO are viewed as the strongest indicator of where the race for President will go in October. And investigators looking into the death of Alberto Nisman are exploring the possibility that the special AMIA prosecutor was pressured into committing suicide.
