Iconic Uruguayan Critic Passes Away

Issue Sep 03-09 2025: Renowned Uruguayan theater and film critic Yamandú Marichal died on September 8 at the age of 93. Founder of the Florencia Awards, created in 1962 to honor Uruguayan theater and film, Marichal was the only member of the Association of Theater Critics of Uruguay (ACTU) to serve on the jury every year, except when illness prevented him from doing so.
