On November 30, 2019, the International Book Fair (FIL) in Guadalajara, Mexico, opened the doors to the world for its 33rd time, and welcomed India as its guest of honor. The FIL started in 1987 and is organized by the University of Guadalajara. It has become the largest book fair in the Americas, and the second largest in the world, following Frankfurt’s in Germany. This year’s Feria honored and celebrated the work of international writers that have created master literacy pieces. From fiction to illustrated comics, from heartfelt poetry to journalistic novels, and from STEM to music and theater, the FIL’s mission has been to create and promote culture and art in Mexico and the world.
