Issue Sep 03-09 2025: After recent negotiations in Mexico’s Federal Judiciary, Mónica Soto Fregoso, president of that entity’s Electoral Tribunal (TEPJF), noted that despite the fact that many of its members were “betting on the failure” of the reform under consideration during the negotiations, the fact that this phase of this process had been successfully navigated meant that “Mexico now fully enjoys a democracy that stands well above the standard of other countries.”
