Issue Feb 04-10 2026: Officials in the Dominican Republic have launched an initiative to clean up the infamous landfill of La Duquesa, located near the capital of Santo Domingo. The plan, which will include the creation of sports courts, gazebos, gyms, a waste recovery plant, and an educational amphitheater in the area, is meant to benefit the 3.8 million inhabitants of the greater Santo Domingo area, but not everyone is pleased with the move.
