Class and Water Politics in El Salvador

Although water is scarce in San José Villanueva, private properties ignore this shortage, allowing their children to play in Slip n’ Slides and water jets. While 75% of the population struggles to obtain enough water to drink, the oasis of El Encanto (a golf course) has water in abundance. The water project FIHIDRO, which promised to improve the water situation for residents, has only made matters worse.
