Delegations from Cuba and the U.S. recently met in Havana as part of an effort to stabilize diplomatic relations between the two countries.   Governments of both nations agreed to undertake actions in various areas of common interest including health, agriculture, environment, meteorology and the combat of drug trafficking.       

Kevin Whitaker was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Colombia 2 years ago and has been working on post conflict Colombia relations with the U.S. in hopes of providing aid and guidance for the troubled country.  

Mexico has recently unseated Canada in the position of second largest exporter to the United States. 

The new relationship with the U.S. is “a making up with the Cuban system,” complained the painter Carlos Boix.

The U.S. will donate $5 million for increases in energy in Central America.

The leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, “El Chapo,” has been moved to a federal prison in Chihuahua, just 34 km from the city of El Paso, Texas.

Organizers of the concert, “Hope for Ecuador,” announced that the event will be held on May 12, in New York City. Its goal is to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake that took place on April 16, in Ecuador.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Delcy Rodríguez, stated that the U.S. embassy in Venezuela denied visas for Venezuelan diplomatic and consular staff appointed to attend the Organization of American States (OAS).

The clock struck nine o’clock when the cruise ship Adonia entered La Havana Bay. Dozens of people received with enthusiasm the first tourist boat coming to the island from Miami in more than 50 years.  The Cuban people welcomed the boat at its arrival.

Sanctions imposed by the United States against officials and ex-officials of the Venezuelan government may remain in place until 2019 if the White House and Senate reach an agreement to unblock the nomination of Roberta Jacobson as ambassador to Mexico.
