Issue Sep 03-09 2025: On September 7, 2025, Argentine President Javier Milei’s ruling La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party suffered a massive blow in the midterm elections in the province of Buenos Aires at the hands of his chief rivals in the Fuerza Patria, the name under which the Kirchnerista-Peronismo coalition participated in the contest. Voter turnout was 63%. BA province’s legislative elections, beyond their territorial and demographic importance, always seem to take the political pulse at the national level. On October 26, Argentines will go to the polls for the midterm elections in which Milei had hoped to expand his footprint in Congress.
