Brickworking as a Source of Income in Small Town Ecuador

The community of Cárcel, located in Montecristi, sustains itself by manufacturing bricks with 30 factories in the town. But with the arrival of winter, this main economic activity is halted to avoid complications from the rain.  So, brickworkers have to make sure they’ve produced enough to maintain their income over the rainy season.
