Argentine Senate Votes Against President Milei’s DNU

!!!

–Researched and Written by Ash DelmoreIssue Mar 13-19 2024: President of Argentina Javier Milei issued a Decreto de Necesidad y Urgencia (DNU), containing over 300 laws to deregulate the economy including laws affecting the job market, health, repealing the Rental Law, and privatizing public businesses. Both the Senate and Chamber of Deputies are needed to vote against it for it to be annulled. The Senate voted against it, and it will now go to the Chamber of Deputies for their vote. The Senate had 42 votes against the DNU, 25 in favor, and four abstentions. It appears unlikely it will pass the Chamber of Deputies.
