Due to the ongoing health crisis, economic difficulties have also surged. The Dominican Republic is currently in one of the worst economic conditions in the history of the country. Along with the rising cases of COVID-19, the country has also seen a rise in fuel prices, housing costs, and food costs. There has also been a significant decrease in supermarket income, and about 50% of restaurants in the country can possibly go bankrupt. In just the first six months of 2020, the Dominican Republic has seen an inflation of 0.43% in the market.
