Is Sánchez Cerén Going Back on his Promise to Double the Education Budget?

On September 1, 2013 El Salvador’s President Sánchez Cerén issued a speech in which he promised to prioritize the education budget if elected president. He claimed he would increase the budget to 6% of the country’s GDP by the end of his five year term. However, in 2016 he will be 0.1 GDP points further away from his goal.
