Game of Thrones, Brazilian Style: Talk of Coups, Impeachment Intrigues, and Calls for Resignation

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and Eduardo Cunha, the president of the lower chamber of Brazil’s congress (Câmara dos Deputados), remain locked in a circling death match as they grapple with impeachment on the one side and forceful calls for resignation on the other.  Both have been caught, to differing degrees, in the fallout of the Petrobras corruption scandal.  Millions of Brazilians have taken to the streets in recent months, some calling for Rousseff’s impeachment, and others for Cunha’s resignation.  At the same time, Brazil’s economy is suffering its worst downturn in decades.
