Decreased Rainfall Due to El Niño Leads Panama to Declare State of Emergency

Issue Aug 19-25 2026: According to Panama’s Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Imhpa), rainfall on the Pacific side of the country has decreased by as much as 60% due to the El Niño phenomenon. In response, Panamanian authorities have declared a state of emergency.
