Issue May 27-Jun 02 2026: Guatemala has just appointed a new attorney general to replace Consuelo Porras, the country’s leading prosecutor for over eight years. Sanctioned by over 40 countries for election meddling, Porras ran a lawfare machine against judges, prosecutors, journalists, and human rights defenders until she left office on May 17, to surprisingly little fanfare.
