Issue Apr 08-14 2026: Drones, unmanned aerial vehicles that for years have been used to conduct remote surveillance, have become key elements in a number of recent conflicts, including the war between Russia and Ukraine, Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, and the battle between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. In the last case, weapons that cost barely US $50,000 to manufacture have interrupted the flow of a fifth of the world’s oil supply.
