Colombia Formalizes Over 500,000 Hectares of Amazon Rain Forest for Indigenous Peoples

Issue Jan 28-Feb 03 2026: Colombia’s National Land Agency (ANT) has announced that it has formalized over 500,000 hectares of land for several Indigenous communities living in the area. According to the agency, these lands have been designated Indigenous reserves, and cover several departments in the Amazon including Amazonas, Putumayo, Caquetá, Guaviare, and Vaupés.
