Mexican Oil for Cuba Cut Off

Issue Jan 28-Feb 03 2026: Given U.S. pressure, humanitarian aid by Mexico became a state secret as the country channeled at least $1.4 billion in fuel to Cuba between 2023 and 2025 through the opaque subsidiary “Gasolinas Bienestar,” created by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The former president said that the profits from that company would stay in the poorest and most rural areas of Mexico.
