Highway Blockades Cost Bolivian Economy Hundreds of Millions

Issue Jan 07-13 2026: Actions taken by the Bolivian Workers’ Center (COB) have put the whole country on alert. Blockades of highways by truck drivers, in defiance of Supreme Decree 5503, threw the business sector into chaos, threatening to cut off the delivery of essential goods to markets throughout the South American nation. Seven days of blockades led by the COB and other social sectors have cost Bolivia US $600 million.
