Venezuela and Cuba Added to List of Countries Requiring Down Payment for U.S. Visa

Issue Jan 01-06 2026: The United States State Department has added Venezuela and Cuba to a list of 25 new countries whose citizens must deposit down payments of up to US $15,000 upon requesting an entry visa to the country. The new policy will take effect on January 21 and includes such nations as Algeria, Angola, Gabon, Nepal, Senegal, Zimbabwe, and Uganda.
