Issue Nov 19-Dec 07 2025: The agreement reached at the recent meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP) to the UN Framework convention of Climate Change, the so-called COP30, in Belem, Brazil, represents a major victory for such oil-producing countries as Saudi Arabia and Russia, given that it includes numerous warnings about the cost of inaction, but few specific ideas about how to face the rising threat of global warming.
