Mexican Mothers Hold Candlelight Vigil for the Disappeared

Issue Sep 03-09 2025: Several collectives representing mothers of the disappeared held a candlelight vigil on September 9 in front of the Government Palace in Culiacán, Mexico, in order to make visible their demand that officials intensify searches for the nearly 2,000 people who have gone missing in the region since an armed conflict began within the Sinaloa cartel last year.
