Issue Jun 01-11 2025: Authoritarian regimes are characterized by arbitrariness. In such regimes, where consensus should exist, obedience is demanded. When these regimes are in power, there is typically one person or group that claims legitimacy to govern over the given territory. The opposition of the regime is demonized and disqualified. Checks and balances are reduced while abuses of power increase.
