Issue Apr 02-May 31 2025: Cartels have long been active in Mexico, and recent news indicates that the activity of these criminal organizations has not decreased. Reporting by multiple outlets has demonstrated the persistence of these criminal organizations as well as government responses to the recent rise in their activity. Between assassinations with possible links to Jalisco’s Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and arrests throughout Mexico, it is clear that cartels remain an ongoing threat for the people of Mexico. The United States government has been working with Mexico as much as permitted to counter the criminal organizations.
