It is no breaking news that the coronavirus continues to rage on across the globe. South America continues to see some of the worst numbers as many of its countries lead the ranking for most coronavirus deaths per million people. Uruguay falls just short of the top ten in this ranking. Yet, despite being one of the most affected by coronavirus deaths, Uruguay is doing better. Vaccine numbers are up, and the Ministry of Public Health is organizing programs to enhance vaccine rollout in more rural communities. Plus, the country is a recipient of Joe Biden’s global vaccine distribution initiative, which gives even more hope for the end of the pandemic. However, is it too soon to breathe a sigh of relief in Uruguay?
