Andrés Manuel López Obrador has recently hit the 100-day mark in his six-year term as President of Mexico, or what he has famously promised his presidency to become, La Cuarta Transformación, or “The Fourth Transformation.” He has been lauded for the indisputable democratic legitimacy with which he rose to the presidency and still currently wields – a feat not common in Mexico’s recent history. At the same time, many remain concerned about the fact that, despite his repeated efforts towards greater transparency and expanded political participation, his motives and policies remain erratic and lack clarity.
