Pope Francis determined that Salvadoran Archbishop Óscar Romero, who was murdered by a right-wing death squad in 1980 and has become an icon of the Roman Catholic Church in Latin America, died a martyr and will be beatified. 

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner expressed her satisfaction that over 1,000 businessmen attended the Argentinean-Chinese forum in Beijing and rejected criticism voiced by the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) against her trip to China and the bilateral deals reached.

The meeting in Havana was also attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Russian Minister in his Latin American tour that ended in Cuba, after visiting Venezuela and Nicaragua.
