Eliminating planting within 30 meters of rivers and cutting down on erosion are the main goals. 

The draft of the General Law of Biodiversity, presented in October of 2016 by a senator of the Ecological Green Party of Mexico, poses a mechanism for the privatization of the genetic resources of the country (seeds, plants, medicinal herbs, microbes, fungi) and the indigenous knowledge associated with them.

Each year, between 50 and 100 tons of “silver venom,” or mercury, are dumped in Colombia and 1,126 individuals experienced sicknesses related to exposure between 2013 and 2015.
