In recent years more and more aficionados of dune surfing have been making their way to the sandy slopes of Catamarca in northwestern Argentina.

In an effort to reverse declining trends, Chile launched a plan to lure in Argentine tourists, however, a lack of coordination between Central American neighbors led to a missed opportunity for the Guatemalan tourism industry.
