In Juigalpa thousands of farmers took to the streets to speak out against the canal project, while scientists criticized its environmental study. 

The Ombudsman asked Bolivia’s Constitutional Court to rule on the DS 2366, arguing that there are “serious violations in this decree to national legal regulations and international human rights instruments protecting indigenous peoples.” 

Fishermen in Santa Elena, Ecuador, reported smaller catches because of the lack of fish.
